Bird in Hand was established in 1997 when viticulturalist and winemaker Andrew Nugent left Tatachilla and planted the family vineyard at Woodside in the Adelaide Hills, near the historic goldmine of the same name. Along with another vineyard in the notable Clare region, the great fruit and skilled work of this winemaker come together in a stellar range of wines.
It’s an unusual wine this one with enough fruit and sweetness to keep the occasional wine drinker happy and enough quality fruit to shift curmudgeonly wine snob from miffed to mollified. Pleasures best by itself but suspect it would be all over the turkey if given a sniff. To be enjoyed chilled and while young.
